The start line

Today, this place has been destroyed, and replaced by the GP track. Though, the pits straight line, here on the left, matches more or less the one on the modern thing. It was then followed by a left hander , and immediately after, a very long right hander, called Sudkehre, leading back into a straight line, parallel to the first one, here visible on the right.

Start line (bis)

In the background, you can guess the Nordkehre that allowed to shunt the Nordschleife and come back directly into the pits straight line, here in the foreground.

Nordkehre (at the back) At the top of the photo, on the left , the side-cars are preparing to turn right into the Nordkehre, in order to join the pits straight line. If they had gone on straight away instead, they would have entered the Nordschleife. Well, all those explanations are not that clear, better draw a bit …

The pit area used to be an independant loop, connected either to the Nordschleife, or the Sudschleife (dotted line) or both.

Flugplatz

In the background, you can see the exit of Hocheichen, and the first part of the straight line that leads to the jump of Quiddelbacher Hohe, not visible here.

Today there are more trees here, and a road passes under the track, just where we can see a car on the photo .. The side car is entering the descent of Flugplatz. With no armco and 2 meters from the gully…

Megesfeld (between Adenauer Forst and the descent to Adenau)

Adenau brigde (or Breidcheid)

The cars are crossing the bridge, that spans over the road, and they are coming towards us, just a moment before entering the « stair » of Ex mulhe. So the village is on the right, invisible on the picture. On the left of the track, you can see the secondary entry,( that still exists today) with its barrier. The thick hedges can be regarded as pre-historical armcos…In that way, ecology is not a new idea… :-)
