All photos on this pages were taken by Lennart JARMYR , our swedish memory, during the 1969 1000 km of the Nurburgring : it was in June, so the Moon was still unoccupied...

Wehrseifen 69

Probably the exit of Wehrseifen.

Just after Wehrseifen .

The straight line leading to Adenau Bridge

The left hander leading down to Hatzenbach.

The main difference with a modern track were the vegetal hedges of course. Lennart, who drove on the Ring in 1969 (how one can be so lucky :-) found them dreadful. At places where an accident had occured, the slide marks led to a hole through the bunches , where the vehicle had made his way. Hedges were softer than armcos, but less efficient too...

Crashed lola at Tiergarten.

The driver was not seriously hurt despite his seat was upside down...

The day before the 1969 1000 km.

The Nordschleife was open to public and this NSU is about to start a lap.

Right in the middle of the pits straight line, like real racers.

Talking of real racers, the best of them is on the photo...

Yes, this bald man in the group is ... Fangio !

Following pictures were taken in the old paddock :

Chevron-BMW

Lola T70 : Lennart's favourite :-)

On the twisty Ring, drivers have to cope with poor visibility. Sometimes though, it improves a bit.
